Morley Village Hall

The grounds were originally used for farming and part of the Morley Hall Estate that covered 586 acres in the area, this was sold in 1921.

In 1926 a Golf Club was established on the grounds of Morley Hall where Wymondham College now stands hence the road being named Golf Links road.

The Golf Clubs grounds were acquired by the USAAF in 1945 and the main golf greens had a hospital built on them for the American soldiers.

In 1947 the hospital became an Emergency Training College and eventually a Boarding school in 1951 which was formerly located in Thetford.

Morley Village Hall was formerly further up Golf Links Road Opposite the Methodist Church in the village. Planning permission for a new Village Hall was turned down due to access and parking spaces, subsequently the land was sold to fund a new Village Hall. Land owned by Wymondham College in the area for rugby was sold to the Parish with the grounds of the New Morley Village Hall being purchased in 1974, the Village Hall was then built on the land in 1981.

The grounds that Morley Village Hall stands are actually named the Derek Daniels Playing Field. Derek Daniels played a big part at the grounds over the course of the years for many reasons. He worked for Wymondham College and was local to the area playing a big part in looking after the grounds and helping the college students and locals in the area.
